YAMAHA      MU128 Upgrade Kit


Thank you for purchasing Yamaha products. 
This program contains software that will upgrade your MU128 
to Version 2.00.


Upgrade Details
===================

Allows the MU128 to correspond with GM Level 2 standards 
(refer to the "MU128V2E. pdf" file for more information).


* Cautions concerning GM Level 2
The MU128 Version 2.00 provides compatibility with GM level 2 
allowing the playback of GM level 2 based song data. However, 
please pay attention to the points shown below.

¥ GM Level 2 parameters in Version 2.00 of the MU128 are set 
  with external MIDI messages. However, editing data with an 
  MU128 front panel operation will result in the data being edited 
  as an XG parameter.
¥ MSB Bank 120 and 121 voices cannot be selected from the 
   MU128's front panel. Changing the voice from the front panel of 
   the MU128 while an MSB Bank 120 or 121 voice is selected will 
   result in the selection of a different bank.
¥ The XG Plug-in boards do not correspond with GM Level 2.
¥ The Performance Mode does not correspond with GM Level 2.

    Computer........................Power Macintosh
    Hard Disk Space..............At least 5MB of free hard disk space.
    RAM Memory.................At least 16MB
    Display...........................640x480 dot, 16 bit High-Color or greater.
    MIDI Devices..................MIDI interface or a device equipped with 
                                           a MIDI interface (Sound Card, MIDI tone 
                                           generator, etc.).

                                           MIDI cables
    Software..........................OMS 2.3.2 or later
    Compatible OS.................Mac OS 7.x or later.


About Upgrading
===================

Double-click on the "Upgrade" icon to start the upgrade. 
Follow the instructions that appear on the screen.

* Caution -When Installing the Upgrade
¥ You assume full responsibility for the installation and use of the 
   upgrade.
¥ Installation and proper setup of OMS is necessary.
¥ If the computer goes into "sleep" mode, transfer of data may 
   stop.  Make sure the computer's "sleep" mode is turned off.
¥ Before installing this upgrade, make sure no other applications
   are open.
¥ After the upgrade is completed, all settings in the MU128 will be 
   initialized.
¥ During the upgrade operation (while data is loading) do not turn
   off the MU128, do not disconnect the cable and do not alter the
   order of operations. Doing so may result in damage to the devices. 
   (Especially, never turn off the power while the LED is lit.)
¥ Installation of the upgrade is carried out via MIDI only.
   The operation can not be carried out via the TO HOST jack.
¥ The upgrade automatically checks the connection (between the
   computer and MU128). If an abnormality is found, continued 
   operation of the MU128 may result in damage to the device.
¥ If upgrade operation (data loading) is unsuccessful due to problems
   with the MIDI interface, the MU128 will be in "Download" mode, 
   when the power is switched on again. In this case, use a different 
   MIDI interface and install again. (In this case the connection cannot
   be checked.)
